I once had a routine, where annually, I would go off by myself for a day just to enjoy my own company. I haven't done that in quite some time, being busy with the job and my writing. Well that's about to change in a big way.
It is never a good sign, when someone decides to sign off.I mean all the way off. That signing off, normally comes after a long run of being taken for granted and neglected. It's like the welcome mat unravelling under your feet at the front door.
I always feel sorry for the 'welcome' mat that sits at the foot of the entryways to homes. We never give a thought to that object, we just walk over it, waltz into the home and enter. It's only when the rains are pouring, that we look around for the 'welcome' mat to wipe the mud and grime off from our footwear.
Life doesn't come with a handbook, never mind what anyone says. As long as you're breathing you have to work out situations on your own. So when a situation arises, where you are left like Alice in Wonderland, sitting down to tea with a Mad and ungrateful Hatter; blistered and in need of time away, by yourself, grab that opportunity and crawl through that wormhole to a better place for you.
Believe me when I say, I'm taking a long break for myself.
